Talk Anywhere With Marine Satellite Phones

Wouldn't it be great if you could talk to anyone you wanted right from your boat or yacht? With marine satellite phones, what was once impossible is now possible. Satellite phones give you the ability to make a call or receive a call at practically any location on water.
Why satellite phones instead of cellular technology? Because cellular phone companies require that the user be within a certain distance of headquarters, or at least of the cell towers that have been established. Therefore, your cell phone will work in other states besides your home state because there are multiple towers set up all around urban areas. However, when you're talking about somewhere in the middle of the ocean, or upon a great river, then this type of coverage is usually unavailable.
That's where satellite technology comes in. Marine sat phones are able to communicate with an orbiting satellite for connectivity. All that this technology requires is a clear view of the southern sky, and if you're surrounded by miles and miles of sea, that's not a problem. Sat phones allow you to communicate with a far more expansive range than is available with traditional phone companies. Most marine phones you will see on the market are large; about the size of old car phones. Along with your phone you will be using devices called a terminal and an antenna.
Thuraya SG-2520 satellite phone
Thuraya SG-2520 satellite phone
Can you use your satellite phone anywhere in the world? Not exactly, though potentially satellite TV could do this. The main restriction here is that satellite companies purposely limit their services to one region for better overall service and for legal purposes. For instance, in some countries it would be illegal for you to use marine satellite phones, because that might interfere with their local frequencies, which could result in confusion.
There will be major differences in price, anywhere from $200 to well over $2,000, depending on the phone's features. Generally, the higher-priced phones offer better reception indoors and outdoors. The type of technology used in starting the connection could also play a part, such as in LEO (Low Earth Orbit) technology or geosynchronous orbit. The networks used for marine phones are built with a purpose and do not change over to various networks like with cell phones.
In addition to enjoying satellite phones you can also request marine satellite Internet, which operates by the same technology. There's no doubt that satellite Internet and marine satellite phones offer numerous advantages. You can keep appointments and can conference at will. You are also available for emergencies at all times. As for surfing the Internet on a boat? Now that's a joy that cannot be fully expressed in just one article. To illustrate: could you submit a question to Yahoo answers about a boat while actually on a boat? Yes. Blows your mind, huh?
Marine satellite phones are not for everyone, but if time is money for you then you can't afford not to be without a satellite phone in this day and age.

Sturdy Yet Sexy New Mobiles Phones Samsung Monte Bar C3200
The mobile phones Samsung Monte Bar C3200 might catch your fancy. images
Do you love the wedge '“ shaped design in phones, giving it a sexy line and making them easy to hold? Do you like toting with a gadget with flashy colors that attract attention? Then, the Samsung Monte Bar C3200 might catch your fancy. It is yet another addition to Samsung's affordable line of mobile phones that is loaded with limited features but does the job of a regular phone at the least.
It does look pretty good with its orange sides and black frame, common to many Samsung phones. The orange line is done subtly giving it a more sexy appeal despite being flashy. It is also very light, at only 77 grams in weight. It measures 112 x 47 x 13 mm. And it does not only look sexy. It is sturdy as well. It's been ruggedised a little, though not to the extent of getting an IP 34 certification.
Minimal Features
The phone sports a basic 2 inch screen with keypads that are easy to use with the large navigation key at the centre. The screen is quite small but it will work for short messaging purposes. It is also stuffed with minimal features such as the 2 mega pixel camera that is also capable of video capture. It has, however, limited resolution at only 176 x 144 pixel at 15 frames per second. So, you might have to stick to still photography with this mobile phone.
The battery is 960 mAh and can provide up to 8 hours of talktime and 21 days of standby. This is pretty decent given the slim physical make up. As a mid-range phone, do not expect 3G or Wi-Fi capability. It is equipped with a web browser but you will have to make do with the tiny screen when viewing the web.
Internal memory is minimal only 40 MB. To supplement memory and storage space, it has a micro SD slot that lets you upgrade up to 8 GB.
Music
The audio playback is something that is on the bright side. It is complemented with a FM radio capability and a 3.5 mm audio socket. It is equipped with Digital Natural Sound Engine so sound quality is expected to be very good. In addition, it comes with Bluetooth 2.1 and USB 2.0 connectivity. When upgraded, you can actually store audio files on your phone and with the USB connectivity, you can easily transfer files from your PC to your phone and vice versa.
Affordability
Another upside in this release is the price. It is expected to be released to entry level prepaid so it should not cost much. There is no indication yet from Samsung as to the price but it is expected to be on the range of a hundred to a hundred and fifty pounds, just like other mid-range phones.
So, if you are looking for a cheap yet sturdy phone, and provides optimal audio '“ based entertainment, the Samsung Monte Bar C3200 may be the right phone for you

It features LiveSquare, which is LG's graphically based interface, and an Editable Screenshot MMS application that will surely enthrall users.
The Design
The new Cookie looks more eye-catching than the original, though it is made with the same plastics that make it very pleasant to touch. It is a little bit larger, measuring in at 107 x 52.5 x 11.5 mm, and weighs 92 grams. The handset display is 3 inches, featuring WQVGA resolution of 240 x 400 pixels and uses resistive technology. The buttons at the bottom of the screen are raised, and look great with the overall design of the phone. The top side has a 3.5 mm headphone jack and a standard microUSB port.
The Interface and Functionality
The most significant to this phone as compared to the original Cookie is with regards to the interface. It uses the same interface as that in the LG Pop GD510, which is pretty colourful and gives you the ability to personalize to a certain extent. For example, there are themes that younger users would love, similar to what you'd see in the Samsung Corby S3650. The main menu looks like what you would normally find in a handset that has an S-CLASS interface.
Other Features
The multimedia player is very well designed, and come with simplified functionality to make it easier to use them. However, you should note that neither the audio nor the video player offers more than the usual standard options. The player supports AAC, AAC+, MP3, WMA, RA and MPEG4 formats. The good thing about this phone though is that it has 3.5 mm headphone jack (unlike the original Cookie) so you can listen to your favourite music using earphones. The LG GS500 Cookie Plus also comes with a 3.0 megapixel camera with digital zoom and video capture capability.

In this often cut-throat competition among entry level and budget feature phones, it's not uncommon to see old handsets get rehashed or updated with new features with just a letter or number appended to the original model designation. The mobile phone leader Nokia is quite deep into this tradition of taking successful handsets and appending the letter 'i' on its model number.
